Pet Euthanasia at Home

When it is the right time to say goodbye, as a home visit vet, I will come to you where everyone is most comfortable. I will firstly gently introduce myself to your pet and discuss everything with you and whomever else is present. To start, sedation is given - a quick injection under the skin, that many pets barely notice while enjoying treats and affection. This sedation slowly allows them to transition from a conscious to an unconscious state. In the vast majority of cases, this will look like they are simply falling asleep. Once the pet is fully unconscious, they are no longer aware of what is going on.  At this time, I will make a Pawpal foam paw impression (shown further down this page) for you to keep, and when everyone is as ready as we can be, the final euthanasia medication is given, allowing the pet to be at peace.

Respectful Aftercare

After our appointment together, if it is best for your family, your pet can come with me and I can arrange aftercare for you.

You can choose from the following services:

  • Private cremation - your dear pet will be privately cremated and we will deliver the ashes back to you in a complimentary ceramic mother-of-pearl urn.
  • Communal cremation - your dear pet will be cremated with other beloved pets and ashes will not be returned to you.

For pricing applicable to these options, please see our Fees Page.

Memorial Keepsakes

  • Pawpals Foam Paw Impression - I (Dr. Kelly) will make a free foam paw print for you to keep while your pet is sleeping. Additional Pawpals can be purchased for $15 each +tax.

Pawpals photographed are in memory of:
